OPEQ IN BREF
Since 1998, OPEQ has been giving new life to computer equipment to connect people, train young workers, and reduce Quebec’s digital footprint. Present in 5 regions, from Gatineau to Saguenay, we believe that a refurbished computer can change the course of a life.
Key figures:
- More than 365,000 computers redistributed since 1998.
- More than 80,000 devices collected every year.
- More than 18,000 tonnes of materials diverted from landfills.
- More than 1,500 people trained and supported toward employment.
- 2 sorting centres and 5 partner workshops, from Gatineau to Saguenay.
WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT OPEQ
“Every computer we restore is a person we reconnect to possibilities. This is not salvage, it is human investment.” Maryse Lavoie, Executive Director
“For more than 25 years, OPEQ has been giving a second life to computer equipment and to people who would not otherwise have had access to technology. It is concrete, it is measurable, and it is profoundly human.” Siham El Kindi, Deputy Director and Director of Support Functions
“You make a real difference within our communities. Your work is essential, and its impact is far greater than what you may sometimes see on a day-to-day basis.” Beneficiary organization
