As an Individual

Have an old computer collecting dust? Don’t leave it on the curb.

Electronic devices contain toxic substances that contaminate soil and groundwater when sent to landfill. The good news: there are simple, free solutions for disposing of them responsibly.

VOTRE APPAREIL EST ENCORE FONCTIONNEL ?

Donate it to OPEQ. If your computer, tablet, or phone is still functional, we can give it a second life by refurbishing it and redistributing it to a school, a library, or a family in need.

We accept donations from individuals. Contact us to find out the best approach based on your situation and the quantity of equipment you wish to hand over.

IS YOUR DEVICE NO LONGER WORKING?

Make sure it is recycled safely rather than thrown in the trash. Free collection points are available throughout Quebec.

Visit recyclermeselectroniques.ca/qc and enter your postal code to find the nearest drop-off location.

You can also download the Ça va Où app from Recyc-Québec to quickly find out how to dispose of any electronic device.

A TIP BEFORE DONATING OR RECYCLING

Remember to wipe your device before handing it over. Free software such as Kill Disk or DBAN can help you do so for computers. For Apple devices, follow the instructions to unlink your Apple account before handing over the device.
