Our Facilities

Across Quebec, OPEQ operates a network of sorting centres and workshops that form the backbone of our mission. Each facility plays a distinct role in the value chain, from receiving equipment to redistributing it, while carrying a social and educational purpose rooted in its local community. It is this distributed model, unique in Quebec, that allows us to combine environmental impact, digital inclusion, and employability at a provincial scale.

Our Sorting Centers

Our sorting centers, located in Montreal and Quebec City, are the entry point for all equipment entrusted to us by businesses and government departments.

Upon arrival, each device is inspected, tested, and cleaned by our team. Its data is securely wiped in accordance with applicable standards. Each device then follows one of two paths: those that are functional and performing are sent to our workshops to be refurbished and redistributed to our clients. Those that are too defective or outdated to be reused are dismantled and sent to certified recyclers selected for their environmental rigour.

Our sorting centers are also spaces for training and inclusion. They welcome trainees in partnership with youth employment centres, social and professional integration organizations, as well as specialized schools and colleges. People with physical or intellectual disabilities also find an adapted and meaningful work environment here.

Each year, our sorting centers divert more than 50,000 devices from landfills, several tonnes of electronic waste that would otherwise have contaminated our environment.

Our Workshops

Our workshops go beyond refurbishing: each has its own social and educational purpose. This distributed, community-rooted model is what sets OPEQ apart from every other organization in our field in Quebec.
